I’m always happy when there’s a FFIV event in FFRK. I’m still playing this game daily, just haven’t reported on it a lot because I’ve pretty much unlocked all the characters that currently exist (aside from a few base job characters).
Today, I picked up Palom and Porom. And as a bonus, Paladin Cecil got his random new Record Materia!
I decided to blow some mythril on a few pulls, and sadly didn’t get anything for the twins. But I did pull the Stardust SSB for Tellah. So he can summon a meteor and (almost) kill himself again. Great.
I remember to do my daily log in to FF:RK for the rewards, but I don’t always remember to do my one free Relic pull. That’s because, I usually only pull one star items, which are pretty useless to me. I’d heard that it was possible, but very rare, to pull a 5* relic… but I never expected it to happen. Much less, for it to be the one relic I really wanted.
When I saw the rainbow colors around the pull, I was amazed. When I saw it was an axe, I was on the edge of my seat.
When it turned out to be Golbez’s Rune Axe, I was blown away. What were the chances? I mean, seriously, of all the items I could pull, that it would be the one.
Needless to say, I leveled it up promptly.
The new FFIV event has also started – it awards a lot of the previous FFIV characters fairly quickly. A lot of these events seem to. Only Paladin Cecil seems to be missing. It also awards a number of soul crystals, most of which I upgraded over the holiday event. Ah well.
On top of that, we get Rosa and Edge as new characters. I’ve been reading that Rosa is pretty awesome. I may have to try her out.
The newest relic pull event had increased chances to grab Paladin Cecil’s weapon, so I took a few chances on it. Fourth pull earned me the sword. This game must like me.
I also got Syn to try it out last night! Yay for having actual people I know on my friend’s list! XD
So today I realized what exactly the whole Vale of Memories challenge event was about in Final Fantasy: Record Keeper. Not only does it allow you to unlock your choice of character, but also, if you can complete the level 50 challenges, you can get earn Soul Crystals for characters of your choice!
This is awesome!! The Mysidian theme can be so Halloween! 😀
From the FF Record Keeper app.
Wow! Just, wow! Incredible!
I unlocked Edward (FFIV) during the last phase of the Record Keeper event last night. I have yet to level him much, but always enjoy another FFIV hero.
Oh, and Squall, too. But whatever. 😛
So I downloaded and dabbled around in the Final Fantasy Record Keeper iOS app a little a few weeks back. Seemed really cute, but I didn’t do a whole lot with it.
Then they announced a Man in Black event where you can recruit Golbez (and Tellah) from FFIV to your party.
Well, now, that changes everything. Time to give these woefully under leveled characters a kick in the butt.
Annnd… scored one Tellah. I also kicked around the FFIV realms and unlocked Kain. Going for a full FFIV party eventually! Cecil, Kain and Golbez in the same party FTW!
This is part of the Blaugust series!
In the previous post, I talked about how I posted my FFIV fan fiction online back in 1998, and created a small web community through forums and play by email. The interesting thing is that I’m still in touch with some of the people who wrote and RPed with us from that old community, even if the base of the community has long went its own way. In fact, it was through the email list that I met my long-time best friend, Syntyche.
She was first to email me – but that’s not unusual seeing she’s an extrovert with the ability to much more easily make friends. We discovered we both had a long-time love of the SNES version FFII/FFIV, and we both actually wrote our own versions of fanfiction for the game in the past. We started to RP together on the email list, having our characters meet, and eventually becoming friends through the game.
Then we started IMing outside of the email list and forums. Then IMing turned to creative idea sharing. Then it turned to full-out RP sessions.
Syn is a darn good world builder and DM. She knows how to set the stage and how to juggle not just many interesting characters, but also many NPCs that have the potential for growth. She also writes bad guys, which is something I can’t do well. We started RPing about 14-15 years ago. We still RP in the same world with many of the same characters (when she doesn’t kill them off) even today.
She’s also probably going to complain that I blogged this about her. >:)
Of course, me being a creative type, I used to joke that our RPs would make a good webcomic, since they were already in a script format. Then jokes became an actual webcomic with a domain name and everything: Wayrift. I also began working on several other creative web projects, such as Dreigiau (NaNoWriMo) and Shimmer (currently discontinued). In order to keep all these organized, I picked up the domain Sygnus.org and it acted as a hub site to all my projects.
During this time, blogs were just starting to appear – I remember my first one being a LiveJournal. I didn’t blog a whole lot because I didn’t really feel I had a lot to share. But when WordPress started popping up, I was curious and dabbled in that a bit, too. This, of course, led to other things.
