AFK Journey: Season 2 Complete, Season 3 Begins Soon

Last week, I finally finished the main story for AFK Journey Season 2. Just in time, too, because Season 3 - Chains of Eternity – is set to start on January 17.

I’m not sure if there’s an offset of the start date for different servers like there has been for previous seasons or not. But my server has a little day counter in the top left corner that lets me know how many days are left.

I dragged my feet on finishing the story for Season 2. I’m not sure why because I quite enjoyed the basic story and character development throughout. I do still have some side quests to finish, specifically ones that offer new cosmetics for my account. I’m not sure if these vanish or stick around when the new season drops, but I’m not taking a chance. I’m there for anything that provides free cosmetics!

That being said, a lot of folks appear to be excited for Season 3.

Most of these folks are looking forward to unlocking Lorsan – a fan favorite character – as a member of the team in the next season. I like Lorsan well enough, but I’m more curious about how the current storyline links into future storylines.

While each season has been a separate story unto itself, as we’ve gone along, there’s hints at a bigger interconnected story surrounding the Magister (your character) in the long run. I tend to get caught up in the smaller tales, but the main story has always served to remind the player of this in some way, and Season 2 was no exception.

I’m also, of course, interested in exploring the new area, which seems to be winter-themed this time. This game does a fantastic job with both character and world design, so there’s much to look forward to here.

While this is a gacha game, I remain a F2P player, having spent nothing on it. I maintain that as long as you are consistent at logging in and gathering resources, it’s a viable game to play without all the paid goodies. I’m not a very competitive player, however, so those who want to rank higher may not feel the same, but for what I want out of a fantasy side game, AFK Journey has delivered.

All that being said, I’m here for Season 3 and hope I’ll enjoy it as much as I have the first two seasons. This time around, I’d like to make a bigger effort in finishing up the story much earlier, however!
