I was honestly not that crazy about the Elements Collection, mostly because I haven’t made a habit of collecting Freedom/Classic size molds. But after these officially released, I took a long look at Kai, and decided he was quite pretty after all.
Because you can only get one of the set at random from Breyer, I bought him directly from Triple Mountain… before the price practically doubled. He is one of the chase pieces – the other being flame, which is far more popular – so I’m happy I snagged him when I did.
The only downside to this fellow is that my copy has a number of factory flaws straight out of the box. The most noticeable is the strip of missing silver paint in his mane. I know that other copies of this model don’t have this flaw, based on auction pictures I’ve seen. I’ve considered picking up some silver paint and trying to touch him up, but I haven’t decided on that yet. I’d be worried I’d do more harm than good!
Anyhow, I’m happy I bought him, and this has actually sparked a new interest in the smaller sized models. He’s currently decorating the large sink in my bathroom because that’s just where a water horse should be right?
