I collect on the Dundee mold for a conga, so when I saw the Carter model, that’s described as “pearly dapple rose grey,” I knew this was one of my little grails. The trouble was, this came out as a web special back in 2020, which was a few years before I started collecting. So, my only option has been the secondary market for this model.
Actually, I take that back. There was a moment sometime in 2024 when Carter popped up on the Breyer website during some holiday sale (I believe). But there must have been so few available that though I jumped on it the moment I saw it, it was sold out before I put in my payment information.
For the past few years, I’ve kept my eye out for a Carter that’s within my price range on the secondary market. You can find this model, but often for much more than I wanted to pay for it. So, when I saw a listing go up on Ebay for an acceptable cost, I jumped on it pretty quickly! Despite that, Carter is still the second-most expensive model in my collection.
But for a grail, I’m happy with the price I paid! He's a lovely piece!
