I decided to take the path nearer to the ocean thinking that might be easier. For the most part, it seems like both paths were about the same. I had a decent roll, and lots of bonuses thanks to the horse, map and compass. Tsavani only needed three travel rations, and it makes me glad that I bought a bunch. I still think I should have bought more.
