I'm really glad that I got the +2 bonus to my attack from yesterday because this guy was a tough cookie. Not only did you have to have high attack rolls, but also damage rolls. 

Tsavani was able to hit him 3 out of 4 times - but two of those times her attack was just one point shy of stunning or striking. I used her Death Touch ability to boost one of those rounds and one of her special staff points to boost the other. 

In the end, she defeated the guardian, earned 10 gold, and lost two health.
