Well, it was right to suspect the scientists because they were both in on this. They admitted to working with the Empire – even if that meant telling the Empire the location of the ship and putting Andi in danger. They claim that under the Empire, society was able to move forward and embrace science. Without it, they say that everything is going to crumble.
They even express that Maddax is something that needs to be studied to discover his potential. But now they’ve changed their tune, claiming they want to help so that the boy isn’t taken by the Admiral.
I don’t know about you, but Zarylla isn’t really won over by their claims of sacrificing everything for the progress of the Empire. Her options were to let them go or leave them locked up.
Seems like they’ve already been a danger to the crew, so she decides letting them chill in the cell is the safest route to take. Who knows if they’re being honest or if they’ll go reporting right back to the Empire again.
