So, it appears I misunderstood the plan (or it just wasn’t made very clear) – the Fang is the part of the ship they are going to escape on, not the other way around. Oh well.
Zarylla had to space-jump from the ship to the Fang just as a solar flare is erupting. All of her lovely DEX bonuses, plus her Athlete skill, pushed her to make a very calculated and graceful jump. As the pilot fires up the engines, Zarylla then has to climb very carefully over the surface of the ship to find an airlock opening.
She makes it safely inside… only to look back and see the Admiral, his mech, and the swarm all be consumed by the sun.
RIP Admiral! Not going to miss this guy.
