A stream of invading insects comes pouring out of the spire.
Cora attempts to fight them… bless her heart. But the attack and damage rolls are really, really high on these. As are the defense rolls.
She had to use Flurry of Blades to successfully hit these guys, and even then, she still missed twice. Only extremely lucky rolls could do them in with the dice and bonuses Cora had. She did manage to kill two, but this was not a good fight for her. She took 6 points of damage, and this is probably only the first of many fights.
I know folks are probably going to get tired of hearing me grouch about the power balance this year, but the truth is, every time I see a normal fight page, I’ve come to expect how it’s going to end up. It was never like this for the previous calendar characters I played – I always felt I had a fair chance at taking down the fights in the story, even if some were difficult. Heck, last year, they even stripped my character of all of her gear for a short point in time, and I still made it through feeling better than this.
Anyhow, not much good in voicing my frustrations here, I know. It just makes it hard to enjoy the adventure when I feel my poor character barely has a fighting chance and everything relies on almost impossible RNG to do well.
