Cora connects with Captain Mudfoot who seems to be very behind on the times.
She learns that defense against insects and maintenance of the dams are both very important things to those stationed at Timber Landing. Apparently, no one got a memo out to the Captain that the Queen has passed away – and he doesn’t seem to realize who Cora is, either – and he does not seem fully willing to deviate from the original orders they received for the landing’s upkeep.
Cora does manage to persuade him that something important is going on, and that bolstering security should be a focus. He still doesn’t really seem to get it, though he seems open to cooperation.
