Tamagotchi Pix – Day 1

I went in blind with my brand new Tamagotchi Pix. I haven’t played a Tama since I was a kid, so the idea of a full-color Tama was very appealing. I couldn’t find any Tamagotchi Uni for a decent price – since the Paradise is set to release soon – so after looking over some comparisons between the two devices, I picked up a Pix from a third-party seller on Amazon for a decent price.

I chose Pix because, from what I heard, it’s heavier on the nurturing aspect than the Uni. So, far, this seems to be the case.

The game starts up with an egg being taken up in a spaceship from what I guess is the Tamagotchi home planet. It’s then transported to a room where you watch it hatch into a random Tama.

I have to admit that I did flub up in the setup of my Tama the first time – I didn’t realize “nickname” was MY name and not the Tama’s name – so I reset it to fix it so that I was using my name properly. This gave me a different starter Tama the second time, which is interesting.

Anyhow, this baby Tama was already a miserable sight from the start. You have to quickly figure out how to feed and pacify its desires. And boy does he let you know when he needs something – loud and clear! Almost constantly.

This stage lasted a bit over an hour for me, then it aged up into what I guess is a child form.

This Tama is a lot easier to keep happy so far. Taking a page out of what I learned from my Punirunes, I checked on information like what time the Tamagotchi Pix goes to bed and wakes up… and modified the time so that it fits my schedule better.

I haven’t explored all there is to do with yet, but I did take him to the arcade and the park where he earned some money with games and met other Tamas.

I need to get some sort of cradle to put the device in – right now I’m just using the plastic packaging to sit it upright on my desk so I can see when the Tama calls for me.

I do need to spend some more time exploring places like the stores and such, and plan on doing so soon. It’s just been a busy day!
