Pixie Beast Tribe Quests Complete!

I’ve been doing two things every day on both my Main and Amon in FFXIV – Pixie Beast Tribe quests and daily Nutsy hunts (for that mount). Both of these have helped level an alt job quite nicely, to boot.

While I’m still a week and some away from getting the Nutsy mount for each of them, I did finish the daily beast tribe quest story line last night. I’ll have to double check to see if that’s as high as you can rank with them overall – sometimes there’s one final stretch to rank until you hit the ultimate max (to be ready for any bloodsworn quests in the future).

But as far as story goes, it’s complete, and I got the Porxie mount on both characters. The whole process also helped me push my Black Mage (main) and Red Mage (Amon) to level 78-79 respectively. I’ll very likely keep running these dailies until both have hit 80 on these jobs.

The questline was pretty cute overall and gave some interesting insights into the world of the pixies. Always laced with fae mischief and just a hint of subtle threat, I found most of it to be pretty fun. As you ranked up, you helped to build an instanced dreamland, which really bloomed after the final quest. I need to go back in and explore it some when I have the time.

The story was pretty cute, meshing concepts of friendship and accepting people for who they are. There’s also a bit of a mystery as to exactly who the antagonist is, and how they came to be. Not all the questions were answered in the end, but it’s interesting to see that just because there’s natural patterns and rules to a fantasy world doesn’t mean some creatures don’t work outside these rules in special cases.

I’ll say no more about this as it’s bordering spoiler territory.

I was surprised that there was a minor boss fight for the final quest. Usually beast tribe quests keep battles to a minimum. I’m thinking back, and don’t recall an instance where beast tribe quests had a boss fight like this.

It wasn’t terribly difficult, but did reinforce the fact that I’m rubbish on Black Mage still. Even after looking up a better rotation and thinking I understood the job more or less, anytime something happens that forces me out of that rotation (like this fight did in several instances), I find myself at a loss of what to do to keep the DPS going.

I guess Black Mage just isn’t my job – which is the main reason that I chose to level it through beast tribe quests and hunts. I knew that I’m so rubbish with it that even trying to do Trusts would be very difficult for me.

Ah well. Once I get it to 80, I won’t have to worry about it again until the next expansion!
