Flipping Blogs Around (Again)

Posted on June 8, 2022 by Aywren

In the middle of this Great Blog Migration, I’ve run across two categories of posts that I wasn’t quite sure what I’d do with yet. Namely, the Fiddle Posts and the Uke Posts.

I’ve gone back and forth and back and forth over the years with where these belong. In their own blog? Caught up in my normal blog?

The fiddle section was made to be its own blog from the outset. I’d even created Neocities sites for both of them using a site creation program to help ease the burden of hand coding it all. But then, I folded them back into my main blog because I wasn’t sure if they were worth the time to maintain separately.

Well, here I am again, facing the question of time and work. Once again, I’ve broken these pages out into separate blogs for the sake of time.

Basically, I still had a backup of the blogs I’d created on the site creation program. I needed a few small updates to the uke site, but for the most part, I’ve done very little blogging on these topics since I folded them into my main blog.

In the end, it took less time and effort just to upload the old blog sites than it would to clean up these pages individually as part of this blog migration. And so it stands that Lilting Fiddle and Ukes N Snails are now their own pages once more.

The lovely thing about having a supporter account at Neocities is that you can spin up to 30 sites on one account, and they can all have a domain name attached to them if you’d like. Considering the hoops you have to jump through to have a domain at other hosts, this is one of the features I like best.

Anyhow, the new-old blogs are spun up and that’s less work for me to worry about in this migration. It’s coming along as I attempt to clean up and post one month at a time. While it certainly has its challenges, I’ve been happy with how this has all developed in the end.
