Steam Next Fest

While I’ve been aware of the Steam Next Fest, in which many upcoming games are showcased through free downloadable demos, I’ve never taken the opportunity to explore games through it. I think it’s a fabulous idea, however, and this time around, I’m taking advantage of it.
This is mostly because a game that’s on my wishlist - Horse Shelter 2022 – has provided a pretty beefy-sized demo for download. While I’m extremely interested in this game, as I discussed yesterday, one has to beware the new wave of lazily developed simulation games. I decided that a demo would help me to determine if this is a future release that deserves a place on my wishlist.
While I was there, I found a few other demos that I’ve decided to download just out of curiosity. There are a LOT of demos to choose from, and some that look very tempting. But I’ve narrowed it down to just a few to try for now.
These include:
- Horse Shelter 2022
- Horror Tycoon
- Potion Permit
- Nanomon Virtual Pet
- Spirittea
- Garden Simulator
- Bookstore Simulator
- Wildlife Planet: The Incremental
- Catizens
- Terra Nil
Yes, I have strange tastes. Yes, these titles are all over the place. But I think that’s part of the point to this kind of festival.
Have you downloaded demos from this or previous Next Fests? Does this kind of preview system help determine where your gaming funds go in the future?
