On the Tenth Day of Giftmas…

Since I opened the other gnome tin yesterday, I decided to keep it consistent and open this one as well. They were also both out in the front under the tree, so quite a visible choice.
Inside…
A set of Disappointment Dice! I’m super excited!
Let me tell you a bit about these. They’re sold at an Etsy shop for Viridian Gaming, folks who make tabletop items, such as dice. These are meant to be a full set of unmatched “ugly” dice that you can give as a joke to others. But it seems, from the reviews, most people don’t consider them disappointing at all.
As described from the seller:
KINDS OF BAD DICE THAT ARE INCLUDED:
Ugly Dice, Unpolished, Poorly Inked, Dice We Couldnt Sell, Dice We Didnt Want To Try Selling, Cursed, Mauve Colored and/or all of the above.
The only thing we promise is that the dice will be shaped correctly, and be functional. No broken/dented/scarred dice.
When I saw them, I was stoked at the thought of some random ugly dice set, so I put it on my wishlist. And here we are.
Not only that but…
I got a set of cursed dice, too! Yes, there are uncursed sets as well, but cursed is so much more fun!
So, what dice did I get?
I’m actually quite happy with all of the dice, to be honest. I don’t know why they’re considered ugly at all. Let me highlight a few, though sadly, you can’t get a great picture of them – they’re better in person.
This one has a white duck (fitting) in water, it seems.
This one has a pair of cute mushrooms inside it – really couldn’t get a good picture, but believe me when I say it’s cute.
This one has a pink, evil-grinning cat (?) of some sort inside it. Not sure if it’s really a cat, but that’s what it looks like to me. Again, couldn’t get a great picture of it.
The rest have some variation of sparkles, both clear and not, of various colors. Some have gold flecks, glitter and that sort of thing. All quite pretty.
They’re finding a home with my Galaxy Dice, right in the Mimic dice bag that I got for Christmas last year! I’ll have a variety to pick from for this year’s quest calendar play, it seems.
