BookWyrm in Review – 2023

One of the things I tried to do better at this year was reading (or listening to) books. I used to be a voracious reader when I was younger, but over the years, that’s fallen by the wayside as I’ve had to juggle so many things that are in want of my free time.
I set myself a very low goal of completing 5 books this year – you might laugh, but that’s sadly a lot for me. While a number of these books were audiobooks, I still feel those count, and I was able to complete my goal for the year.
Note, that I’m in the middle of a few other unfinished books – one which is a daily reader that I will complete on Dec 31. So, it’ll actually be 6 books this year. Maybe more if I happen to find the time to dive back into the couple of books that I’m fairly close to finishing this year.
In order to track my progress, I’ve been using a site called BookWyrm.social.
It’s part of the Fediverse, and I know a few of Mastodon folks use it. You can find out a bit more about it here.
BookWyrm is to Goodreads what Mastodon is to Twitter – a federated alternative. I’ve enjoyed using it to keep up with my reading this year, and I hope to see the number of books I finish be even more next year!
