FFXIV: Finishing Those Skybuilders’ Crafting Relic Tools
Posted on March 14, 2024 by Aywren
Yes, I’m aware these are last expansion’s crafting relic tools. Yes, I know it’s been over 2 years since the Skybuilders’ Tools have released. Yes, I’ve had Skysung relics taking up space in my retainer inventory all this time.
But finally, finally, I’ve been able to buckle down and start the process of turning them into the final step of the process - Skybuilders’ Tools. I’ve even been sitting on the materials for one of the tools all this time. The one thing that kept me from moving forward? Expert crafting.
I may have a nice set of fully melded crafting gear, but that doesn’t matter. Every time I look at a guide about Expert crafting, it makes my head hurt.
I really do want to learn how it works. I know it’s probably possible for me to figure out if I spend the time trying. I just haven’t wanted to badly enough, so much that I’ll wait with materials ready for all these years before I can come back and just macro my way through it due to being overgeared.
I actually could have done this back in May of last year when I finished pentamelding my crafting gear. I just didn’t seek it out until recently.
I was researching Expert crafting when I discovered this page that teaches how to do it. But at the bottom, I noticed there were macros for respendent tools and Ishgard Restoration experts. I took the very bottom one, labeled Expert Rotation, tweaked it just a little bit, and have been able to complete my first two Skybuilders’ tools without the need of any food buffs.
The macro doesn’t always reach the third tier, but most often, it does. So, this only requires about 20-something crafts to finish. The fact that I knocked out two of these in one night without trying too hard was really nice.
Mostly, I just want to finish them to free up space on my retainer. They are nice looking, but I think I’m partial to the crystal tools of this expansion.
I’ve only started on the crystal saw, however, and I think I’ll run into the same issue with Expert crafting that I did before. Being wise to this fact, I’ve only worked on one of these tools at a time so far. That way, I don’t end up with a slew of crafting tools just taking up space yet again.
Maybe this time around, I’ll figure it out? We’ll see if I have the energy to try!
