FFXIV: Free Company Country Cottage Rework

Along with Dawntrail, FFXIV introduced a number of new housing items, and a new set of walls that I quickly became interested in – the Country Cottage Walls. After seeing a few other small houses using this in neighborhoods, I bought one for our Free Company house.
It’s been many years since I’ve changed up the FC house in such a drastic way. We’ve been using our Otter Walls since 2018! And while the Country Cottage doesn’t exactly fit into the Shirogane environment, there’s just too much to like about it for me not to give it a try.
While the walls do take up more yard space than some of the other options, it also provides a number of built-in decorations and objects that don’t take up decoration slots.
For example, there are some nice crates in the front that you can sit on.
There’s a lovely small garden and a back porch.
There’s a side area that acts somewhat as a shed.
And, of course, there’s the hidden tree trunk spot on the top of the house that comes fully decorated with a table and chairs.
Anyhow, since we moved away from the more Hingan style on the outside, I also reworked some areas within the FC house. We had a lot of old Hingan type furniture, so it was time to give a few places a face lift. Especially the main room.
I’ve had a few donations from FC members who offer some housing items from their FATE hunting gem rewards as well.
I’m looking forward to future furniture releases, but would really love for them to eventually increase the number of items a house can hold. I’ve heard rumors of such a thing, but don’t know if that’s going to happen on down the line. It would be nice, though!
