I Brake for Twitch Drops

Posted on August 27, 2024 by Aywren

Just a quick blog post today to talk about something that always tends to reel me in – Twitch Drops. It doesn’t matter if I’ve been actively playing a game or not. Announce some Twitch Drops and I’ll tune in.

I’m not much of an active Twitch watcher – though I do watch from time to time when I’m feeling the vibe. Sometimes when I’m interested in a game that’s new to me, I’ll pop open a Twitch on the side just to see what someone else is experiencing.

Overall, I’m far more of a YouTube watcher than a Twitch watcher. This often includes YouTube channels that sum up clips from Twitch streamers, though.

The fact that I work from home makes it quite easy to pop open a channel and leave it running in the background while I’m doing other productive things. I admit that I don’t tend to engage with the channels that provide drops (sorry) especially when they’re running new content that I don’t want to be spoiled about. But hey, I’m a viewer number for a few hours, so that’s still a good thing, right?

I think it was Black Desert Online that first introduced me to Twitch integrated rewards. After that, No Man’s Sky started having massive Twitch Drop campaigns, which I took advantage of as often as I could.

Since then, if I hear about a Twitch Drop for a game I’ve played – even if I haven’t played in years – I come running!

You can see here I’ve got everything from Sea of Thieves to Enshrouded to Palworld to Guild Wars 2. I was ecstatic when FFXIV announced their first Twitch Drop during the launch of Dawntrail – especially for a mount that could only previously be won by a Butterfingers giveaway.

Basically, this post is just to state my support for Twitch Drop campaigns. I’m always looking for more fun rewards like this – and I do discover a few new channels on Twitch doing this as well.

Do you do Twitch Drops?
