Blaugust 2024 – Most Popular Posts Roundup

Posted on August 30, 2024 by Aywren

Today I wanted to look back on this month of Blaugust, which is almost over (!) – to see what the most “popular” posts were based on comments and interaction. I was somewhat surprised at the result!

Here are the top 4 posts (in no particular order) that, to my recollection, seemed to garner the most conversation:

Gaming Confession: I Still Haven’t Finished Baldur’s Gate 3

This might have been the most discussed post I wrote this past month. While it does have a number of comments on the post itself, it also earned conversation on both Mastodon and Pillowfort (which is rare). Seems like BG3 is still quite a popular topic to talk about, as is struggling to finish a game.

The Habit of Habit Tracking

I was somewhat surprised that this post had as much conversation around it in the comments as it did. I wasn’t aware that habit trackers were unknown to some folks, and such an interest to others. This post, along with a number of my journaling and commonplace posts, had a good reception this Blaugust – interesting for folks who are digital bloggers! I guess there’s something about keeping journals and trackers that appeal to us in general.

Introduction to my Fountain Pens

Fountain pens also have more fans than I expected – both in the comments and among Mastodon folks, especially! Those who collect love to discuss their favorites. Those who are curious pop up and express their interest. There’s just something fun about collecting cool pen and ink colors!

Blogging in HTML – Two Years Later

Making the shift to HTML for my blog has been an ongoing topic that tends to get discussion. This one didn’t surprise me, even though it’s been years since I’ve made this move. I guess some folks still have a quiet concern about WordPress.com hosting, and are curious about what other options are out there!

So, there you have it. In no order, the posts that I felt had the most conversation around them. Honorable mentions go to my journaling and commonplacing posts, which I mentioned above. I always love it when folks drop comments on my posts, but I’ve seen just as much conversation on social media such as Mastodon, and occasionally, Pillowfort. It really just depends on the topic.
