My Steam Replay 2024
Posted on December 19, 2024 by Aywren
This year’s Steam Replay just dropped and the results for my gaming year are pretty much what I expected them to be. This was a year where I somewhat dropped my goals and allowed myself to just enjoy the games I wanted to play, when I wanted to play.
While my stats were still pretty good – playing 37 new games is nothing to sneeze at. Still, every stat was lower than the same stats from last year. I was curious why they included the number of demos I tried in as part of my main gaming stat. I don’t really consider demos part of my played games, so I wish they’d separated those out more.
The main reason I have so many achievements this year (aside from playing many new games that had achievements) was that I am still playing Idle Champions, which showers you with achievements for just about everything. So, while I appreciate the achievement number, I don’t consider this a big deal.
My focus this year was actually a number of newly released survival/crafting/building games, as Steam noted below.
Enshrouded led the way with Soulmask and Palworld being hot on its heels. We also picked up Return to Moria lately, which should be up there somewhere, as well. It is reflected in my game type web as “dwarf”.
Of course, there’s the other expected game types, such as “horse” and “cozy” and “crafting” as well. Steam knows me too well.
I did try out a few of the games that I picked up in bundles back in 2023. However, I didn’t dive into that pile quite as much as I would have liked. I’ll talk more about my gaming goals in a later post.
For now, I’ll just say it was an enjoyable Steam gaming year for me. Most of the games I bought this year I played in some capacity as I did try to only pick up games I wanted to immediately play (unlike last year where I majorly splurged on bundles all over the place).
Next up: my Nintendo Switch year in review!
