Nintendo Switch Review 2024

Posted on December 20, 2024 by Aywren

Once more, we come to the time of year when I get mildly disappointed that I didn’t spend more time with my console games. This is especially true this year since I’ve made an effort to focus on collecting physical Switch games in light of the Switch predecessor being on the way.

I want to note that these stats are not very accurate.

This is partially because the Switch considers any game that you launched during this time period as a game you played. As I was installing and testing several of my physical game carts this year, I might have let them run the introduction through just to make sure they were working, but didn’t actually play the game yet.

Also, since the review does not take into account the most recent gaming you do in December, these stats are not super accurate in a different way. For example, I received two games for the holidays that I’ve been playing over my vacation – The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. Both of these games I’ve put a steady number of hours into so far, but none of this was recorded in these stats since it was too late to meet the cutoff date – whatever that was.

I also played a good deal of Fae Farm in December of last year since I got that for Christmas, as well. None of that was recorded because there appears to be a limbo time that any hours put into Switch games just don’t get included. Which is a shame because Christmas vacation is a time of year I’d think would have a fair amount of gaming to add.

The one accurate stat here was that I spent the most time with Yoga Master. Why? Because it has a nice meditation module that I was using daily for a good while last year.

I know that every year I say the same thing. I vow to make next year the year I focus much more on my console Switch gaming.

Again, I’ll say this for 2025 because my Switch physical collection is quite large now, and I know whatever is going to take the Switch’s place will either be announce or released next year. There’s no way I’ll get through even a fraction of the games I own for this system, but to make some progress would be nice.

I’d especially love to focus on series gaming – such as picking up where I left off in playing all the Final Fantasy games I own on Switch (which is nearly all of them), or tackling all of the Legend of Zelda games.

I hope to blog more about my Switch gaming next year, too. Yet another thing I find myself saying at the end of each year. Hopefully 2025 will be the year!
