Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 – Holding Resolute
Posted on July 23, 2025 by Aywren
About a week and a half ago, I saw three copies of the Switch 2 console in the wild at my local Target. I felt a momentary thrill of excitement and surprise. I snapped a phone picture. Then I walked away from the console, determined to stay the course with my choice to not buy the Switch 2 until I was happier with what I heard about the system.
While I still think about that moment – obviously, because I’m blogging about it now – it honestly wasn’t that hard to turn and walk away. I have no interest in the new Donkey Kong game as I’ve never been on the DK 3D game train – though I admit a voxel-based destroyable game is a cool step forward for a Nintendo 1st party release.
What I have been doing is doubling down on my physical Switch 1 game collection, which I’ve talked about in a few previous posts. I’ve been hunting physical deals on eBay and Amazon on almost a daily basis, and I’ve been pretty happy with the haul I’ve brought in since the Switch 2’s release.

Most of these games were eBay finds, which pleases me. I’ve been more inclined to buy pre-owned lately.
It’s fun to hunt-shop, find a balance between cost, shipping price, and quality, then drop something on my Watchlist to see if the seller might shave a little more off the top – which happens more often than not. The seller’s willingness to cut me a little deal often seals my desire to pull the trigger on the purchase. If not, well, there’s always another listing sometime in the future.
My Project Capture Card has helped me move the needle just slightly on actually playing the games I own – though I need to buckle down a bit more this week – and I don’t at all feel bad about checking off games on my DekuDeals Wishlist, which continues to get smaller as I snag games here and there.
I’ve even gone back and picked up a few games I own digitally in physical form, though that’s rare. The game has to be something pretty amazing for me to purchase it twice.
Anyway, I’m happy with how my Switch library is filling out. I’m happy that I’m making an effort to play more of my Switch games, too. I have a lot of games to look forward to, and I want to spend time with each of them, as they deserve!
