FFXIV: They Gave Us a Cruise Ship for Moonfire Faire 2025

Posted on August 17, 2025 by Aywren

In FFXIV, it’s the summer season, and that means the Moonfire Faire has come back around. This has been an event that’s traditionally one used as a summer hangout once the quest and rewards have been earned. It’s also traditionally a host to a challenging jump puzzle with no reward but bragging rights at the top – and yet, it’s always a main attraction for folks.

In the past year, we’ve had everything from a FATE-filled island off the coast to a huge obstacle course (with jumping puzzle included) to commemorate this event. It also seems to be one of the events I blog about the most for some reason, including the year that people were quoting Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy while taking part in the jump puzzle.

This year, I went into the event expecting an island and getting…

A whole cruise ship!

I admit, my first response at seeing this (thankfully at night, when it’s the most impressive) was a true verbal, “Wow! Look at that!”

Having been on a cruise ship IRL, there’s no doubt where the inspiration for the Queen Lhaminn came from.

I know I just knocked on FFXIV a little in my previous OSRS post (and I still stand by my feeling that battle content is too prevalent and too fast/stressful now days), but let me give credit where it is due. The quest for the Moonfire Faire, which rewards a full set of summer glam, is short and to the point. But the ship is really the center of attention.

There’s a brand new challenging jump puzzle for those who love them. And boy was it raining down characters from above (into the pool) every time I went there to finish the quest on an alt. For those who just want to chill and hang out, there’s plenty of places to do that, too.

The deck is a huge pool, complete with large pool floats to sit on, chairs to lounge on, a mast to climb (non-jump puzzle), and interesting lighting in the middle. There’s also a fun cannon you can get shot out of and a colorful water slide – which seems to give different poses when you slide off of it (maybe random, I can’t tell yet, will have to investigate more).

There’s also a stage area for those who want to perform or dance – I can see that being used for barding. And an area next to the stage with a number of small tables and summer treats which invite hanging out and role play.

While the ship is nice during the day, at night it really lights up and the music changes to a new track I’ve never heard until now. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and effort was put into this new location, and I appreciate it!

In fact, of all the things I’ve seen in Dawntrail, this might be the one that gave me the most summer vacation vibes. Weirdly enough, for the “summer vacation” expansion it was supposed to be.

I can foresee lots of art and summer parties ramping up on this ship going forward. Hopefully we’ll see this as the new foundation for the summer events – many people on the forum expressed the desire to have the pool floats as either a mount or housing item, for example.

Either way, Moonfire on a cruise ship earns my thumbs up!
