The Fake Portal Has Launched!

A few days back, I blogged about a website called the Fake Portal, whose goal is to help highlight indie games created by small developers that might otherwise be overlooked. The site is free, has no advertisements, and is now live!

Currently, there’s 122 indie games archived on the site. The newsletter email that I got announcing the site’s launch says that every week, another 4 to 6 games will be added and introduced via the newsletter, which I think is a very cool idea.

I’ve browsed the games that are already there, and while there are a few I know and even own, there’s far more that I’ve never heard of. Looking at the site filters, Fake Portal is not just about Steam games, either. There’s a wide variety of platforms from PC to all consoles, which is quite nice!

Clicking through to a game’s page, you get all the info you can want for it – descriptions, screenshots, videos, price, and links to the store platforms where you can either purchase or wishlist the game. There’s even a section for games in the midst of crowdfunding, allowing you to help fund the development of new indie games.

Overall, it’s a very slick site with lots of ways to filter for the types of games you’re most interested in discovering. I am absolutely going to use this as an indie game resource, and I’m looking forward to seeing the new games added each week – very excited for this site!
