FFXIV: Ranking Up in Achievements

While I’m not very much of an achievement hunter in the games that I play, FFXIV included, I have decided to casually work on cleaning up achievements in my log as of late. This is somewhat inspired by videos on achievement hunting that Cider Spider creates – as I keep up with all of his adventures on YouTube – though I’m nowhere near as dedicated a gamer as he is.
Some of the achievements I’d left undone, but now have in my sight, are 12 years old. I’m talking oldskool A Realm Reborn class hunt logs, for one. Back during ARR, the hunt log was a way to supplement leveling your classes, though I imagine that’s fallen out of practice now days. It basically gave you a list of creatures to hunt in the overworld for up to 5 different ranks.
These class hunts are still part of the game (on the PC, you can hit the “H” key by default to open the hunt log), but after ARR, the class hunts went away. I guess the other types of hunts took their place, but there are still achievements for finishing up all hunts for all original ARR classes.
Earlier this year, I realized I’d left a chunk of these undone. Some I’d finished partway, some I’ve never even started. For me, that means these achievements have been left untouched for 12 years now. So, lately I’ve been focusing on quick-running these hunts (which are super easy to do at level 100), and raking in the achievements from them.
These aren’t the only achievements I’ve been working on, either. I’ve been using the Lalachievements website to help me pinpoint easy achievements within my reach. This also helped me determine some of the few emotes I’m missing, which I’m now working on earning. When I first logged into the site on Tad, this was what my ranking looked like:
As of last night, almost a month later, this was what I’d earned:
It may not seem like much, but that’s an additional 200 achievement points, which boosted me 42 points for my server rank and 3,392 for the global rank. Sure, I still only have 42% of achievements, and I never expect to get them all, but it’s a fun project to do on the side.
I also do focus a bit on minion, mount, barding and orchestrion collection. I’d like to get a bit more serious with my triple triad card collecting someday, too.
It just shows that despite having played this game for as long as I have, there’s still a ton I’ve yet to do, which is something I always say.
