Spirit City: Trains, Lofi Girl, and Halloween
Posted on October 30, 2025 by Aywren
A couple months back, Spirit City Lofi Sessions released a new DLC whereupon you left your cozy house and got to chill and focus while riding on a train. This allows for decorating both the personal train car and the balcony on the back of the train, which I thought was quite nice!

The DLC also released a number of new spirits to discover, along with lore for each of those spirits. I found it fascinating that the world of Spirit City has begun to expand with this new lore. What started out as small tales of the spirits you could attract to your personal room under the proper conditions has now begun to branch out into lore that details more and more about the entire world in which your Spirit City avatar lives.
Though I hate to compare it to Pokemon, some of this reminds me of how some Pokemon and people live and work together in the Pokemon universe. The new lore in Spirit City details how there’s a mutually beneficial co-existence between certain types of spirits and people, which I really, really like.

Some of the new spirits are actually evolutions of existing spirits. I didn’t understand this at first, and found it harder to figure out the specific requirements to attract some of the new spirits until I did. I had to realize that if the spirit hint notes a certain type of spirit in the writing, that spirit needed to be present to find the new type of spirit – mostly because they are connected in some way, which is really neat!
I didn’t pick up the kitchen DLC for Spirit City, so I’m not sure if this was something present earlier in that DLC, or new to this one. Either way, it adds another element of puzzling out what you need to attract the newest set of spirits, all of which are really cute.
On top of that, Spirit City is now a part of the Lowfi Girl Universe. Being a Lowfi Girl fan, I welcome this heartily!

When Spirit City first blogged about retiring their music partnership with Homework Radio, I was a little sad and worried. The music provided by Homework Radio was lovely, and had been there through hours of focus time for me. They didn’t mention until a bit later that the reason for this was the new partnership with Lowfi Girl, so while I do miss the original music, I’m happy to welcome Lowfi Girl tracks as these are familiar to me, too!
Update: I’ve been informed that they were able to extend the agreement with Homework Radio for a while more, and the music will remain in the program until such time. Good news!
They also released a free Halloween update for all three areas of the game. This includes a bunch of new decorations, new Halloween skins for some spirits, the Lowfi Girl Halloween music tracks, and lots of quality-of-life improvements. I very quickly put out some new Halloween decorations for my train car, which I was quite happy to bring into the season!
