FFXIV: Luck Smiled Upon Me
Posted on November 19, 2025 by Aywren
Since I’ve changed Amon to be my Main in FFXIV, I’ve been fully focused on reclaiming the important things I used to have on the alt character – especially earning the Caduceus minion. I originally got the drop on my alt character back on January 1, 2022 after 25 Trust runs of the dungeon (which I know is actually somewhat good RNG for the time). Though the drop rate of the minion was said to have increased, I started to wonder after the dungeon run count this time around saw no drop after 25 runs.
Things are overall easier now. For one, having good ilvl gear on a Red Mage meant that I could solo this dungeon at a significantly faster rate than it would have taken me to finish it on a Trust. When friends got involved, it went even faster unsynched.
I could knock out about 4 runs in an hour or so, and some days, I was doing just that. I was trying to get the drop before the newest Mog Tome event started yesterday, but that didn’t happen. So, there I was, weaving snek runs between ocean fishing voyages last night.
Mehwapyarra Time
I was desything my fish from a boat run when I saw the shout come up in Limsa that The Serpentlord Seethes FATE was up in Shaaloani. After spending hours back during Dawntrail release helping clear FATES in attempt to get this to spawn, I’ve only ever seen it and cleared it once, a few weeks back. So, this would be the last kill I needed for the mount.
I quickly dropped everything to rush over to the fight, only to find just a few people there, and no Party Finder up for it. Eventually, other folks arrived, and I was able to hop in a party, but it was a rough run. Either everyone was off doing Mog Tomes or this FATE popped by surprise, because that was the smallest number of folks I’ve ever seen for a mount-rewarding fight.
It’s a tough one, too, and the deaths were plentiful. At one point, I realized we only had 6 minutes left on the clock and it was only halfway down. However, we pulled through and were able to defeat Ttokrrone with only 22 seconds left to the fight! What a rush!
And so, finally, the Mehwapyarra mount was mine!

Final Snek Runs
After that, I finished up some chocobo racing, as that was the mini-mog challenge for Tomes this time around, and went back to fishing boat runs with snek runs in between.

On my 26th snek run, I was in a bit of a rush because I was cutting it close to the time the next ocean fishing voyage boat would leave. It was not my best time, for sure, and I actually got knocked around by Hermes a bit (nothing deadly, but I usually do mechanics better).
I was fully focused on getting out and getting to the boat when something happened.

The words I’d longed to see – there was Cadu!
I literally shouted out loud and felt my blood rush through me in excitement as I skittered out of the dungeon to catch the next fishing boat. Finally, my quest was done and the snek friend was by Amon’s side again!
The fact that, on my Main, I have been collecting minions and would have had to eventually do this anyhow (unless they made Cadu available outside of a dungeon drop) was only a nice bonus.
I’m now getting quite close to having almost everything on Amon that I needed.
This past week, I recollected and glamoured the Innovator’s crafting set, which is my preferred lab gear glam for Amon. I needed a number of orange scrips for it, and was able to scrounge that up during weekly custom deliveries.
My small house, now renovated to be Tea and Tomes is fairly much complete. So, all the housing item switch-around is done.
I might spend some extra time setting up the old museum in his apartment, though, as I still want a place to put all the stuff I’ve collected since I started playing in 2013 – that had been the original point of my small house previously. Who knows, though – with an interior housing expansion, and more furniture slots, I might be able to fit the museum in Tea and Tomes yet. That might be the better option.
Really, all I have left to re-earn is the Skyslipper mount and Dancing Green’s glasses. I’ll have to re-run all of the Arcadion raids for that as I’ve not unlocked them on Main. Again, this is something I was going to do anyhow… so…
Yeah! I’m quite happy with this progress. Now I can focus more on ocean fishing and planning what my next achievement hunts will be in FFXIV.
As of now, here’s where my achievements sit:

This is up from rank #858 the last time I blogged about it in October. Time to buckle down!
