FFXIV: Groovy Once More!
Posted on December 10, 2025 by Aywren
Though I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to focus on FFXIV recently, I’m still working through checking off the list of things that I need on Amon-main to make him equal to Amon-alt. One of those things was to reclaim the Groovy Glasses, which is a drop from the Howling Blade raid fight, AAC Cruiserweight M4.
I farmed these glasses back when they were new on Amon-alt, and was so very happy when I finally got the drop! This was back in May of this year.

However, on Main, I’d never even unlocked the raids yet. This was something I eventually did want to do, though. Afterall, Main is supposed to be the character I’m clearing All The Things on, right?
Well, over this past weekend, Syn and Zel got together to help push me through all 8 fights of the Arcadion raids. This… was unexpected. We started with the idea that we’d clear a few fights here and there, but for some reason, we just kept moving on to the next one and then the next.
Thank you both for your help with this!!
I was very, very rusty on these fights, especially given that most of them I’ve only ever run once. And that was back in May for the unlocks. Never touched them again after that, aside from Wicked Tunder and Howling Blade, since I wanted to farm for the weapon tokens and the glasses.
Most queues were pretty timely, and the fights went quite smoothly. Until we got to Brute Abombinator, which pretty much abmonated our group into a wipe on the third phase. I did a LOT of rezzing as a Red Mage, and there was just no saving that first run. Luckily, the group members got the jist of the fight (myself included) and took him down the second try. But I tell you what, wiping near the end on a low DPS run of that fight really, really makes it a very long run!
Anyhow, then we got through Howling Blade, I rolled well on the glasses, and managed to get the drop the very first time! I was hoping that by now, most people were already done farming for the glasses – which seemed to be the case. I think only one other person rolled on it, but I won!
I also got the Black Kitten minion from the previous raid on my first try, which makes me a happy camper!
Aside from that, I really haven’t had as much time as I’d like playing FFXIV since the life events of last week. I’m hoping once things get settled down, I might be able to finally relax a bit and get some fishing in once more. Knocking out a number of fishing achievements, along with some relics, has helped rocket Amon’s achievement rank for our server quite a bit.
Back on November 19th, my achievement rank was #847. As of now, it looks like this:

Quite a jump!
I find it interesting that the ocean fishing achievements are so rare, too. I still have a number of those left to work on, so I think that will be my focus once I find time to shake myself out and relax a bit. Maybe over the holiday some!
