FFXIV: Finishing Dawntrail 7.4 (Again)

I’m somewhat back on my alt kick in FFXIV, working to move more of my characters through the Dawntrail MSQ. Now that I have the ability to gear alts up with the ilvl 770 crafted pieces, I’ve been somewhat motivated to buckle down and get some gaming done while I still have the time.
I’ve already finished 7.4 on my main. I have another alt that’s waiting to start 7.4 – but I might hold off until I move them back to Mateus before I do. I haven’t decided.
In the meantime, I focused getting my Dancer, Zuri, through the content this past week. The main reason she was picked to progress before others was simply because I love the way the Dancer AF gear looks on her. Yep, it was all for the sake of glam!
So, she was my third character to reach level 100. Once I geared my main’s crafters and gatherers up enough to make the newest gear, I gave her a set of normal quality stuff and then dove into post-patch content.
Aside from a 20-minute queue for Zelenia (cough-Beatrix-cough), the process was pretty painless. Most of the content can be run with Trusts – I’d forgotten the 7.3 trial was Trustable, but very glad it was so. Only three of the trials force grouping through all of Dawntrail, which is nice.
I also really appreciated the new change to Trusts where if a boss defeats you, you earn a pity mark for the next try at the boss. I’m not the best or most practiced on Dancer, so I actually had to take advantage of this feature during the notorious second boss fight of the Meso Terminal.
Aside from that, clearing the content wasn’t an issue for me. I still feel like the general dungeon content is far more challenging than it was before Dawntrail, however. I guess that I’ve just had to up my game to continue playing at a level where I can pull it off. I do miss the more chill dungeon runs of the past, though.
With Zuri done, there’s no time to rest! I already have Tad waiting in the wings at the first dungeon of Dawntrail to take his turn through the gauntlet of expansion content. After him, I have at least two more characters that are sitting at the start of Dawntrail as well.
Aside from that, I’m kicking around the idea of leveling jobs on my Bun character, Fljot, some more. She’s currently sitting at the later half of Shadowbringers as I level her through Pictomancer. But what I’m considering with her is more of a sweeping job leveling – especially seeing she has no leveled crafters at all.
I dunno. I probably have enough on my plate with just getting alts through Dawntrail at the moment. But here I am, always giving myself more projects, right?
