FFXIV: Red Mage Obscurum Phantom Relic Weapon

It’s been what feels like a very long road, but last night, I finally earned the Obscurum Phantom Relic for my Red Mage! Much thanks to Syn who stuck by me for all these roulette runs even though she’d finished hers a lot earlier than I did. This is because she also does weekly raid runs, and even at 8 tomes a run, those add up.
I wrote a post last month about how to earn the paste you need for unlocking this weapon. Once you’ve earned the paste, you then need 1,500 tomestones of Mathematics to purchase the 3 Waning Arcanite to exchange for the weapon. So, hold on to some of your tomes along the way!
Similar to previous relic steps, once you unlock a weapon on one job, all the rest of the job weapons are purchasable by exchanging tomes for Waning Arcanite – given that you’ve finished the precursor relics up to that point. Thankfully, you only have to do the paste step once, and I’m completely good with that.
I wrote about how I was struggling a bit with burn out, which was partially due to all the roulettes I forced myself through to finish this weapon. I only did one Expert and one Leveling per day as I wanted to pace myself and earn max tomes. That meant I had to run 35 days’ worth of roulettes to complete the full paste step.
I did take a few days off here and there when we were sinking time into other games on the weekend. But for someone who doesn’t relish the idea of running dungeon content in FFXIV in general, locking in on it day after day was tough for me. Maybe even more tough than the previous step for whatever reason.
I also wrote about how I am working at trying to gather enough commendations to finally unlock battle Mentor on my main, and how that’s pretty tough to do when you’re a DPS in these roulettes. I generally do run alliance raids as a co-healer for Syn, mostly to practice my healing, gather some tomes, and earn a few commendations the easy way.
Due to the relic runs, I’d put all alliance runs on hold. So now I need to shake the rust off my healing skills and get back into earning coms more consistently. I have a long way to go!
White Mage relic will be my next stop as my healer is not anywhere near as geared as I’d like to be.
