Trail to the Heavens – Patch 7.5 - Part 1 Release Date: April 28
Trail to the Heavens – Patch 7.5 - Part 2 Release Date: Early September
Today’s Live Letter dropped a lot of exciting information for upcoming patch 7.5 in FFXIV! In fact, this might be the most hyped I’ve been through all of Dawntrail.
As always, patch 7.5 will be broken up into two parts as the MSQ starts moving us into the story beats for the next expansion. The first part is confirmed for April 28, only a few days after the NA Fanfest (which I still hope to attend) concludes. The second part is set for some time in early September.
Between the two patches, this is the confirmed content in a nutshell:
- MSQ
- New Dungeon
- New Trial
- Allied Society Capstone Quest
- New Hildibrand Quest
- New Custom Deliveries
- New Duty Support: Dusk Vigil, Shisui of the Violet Tides
- PVP Updates – Another new CC arena
- Alliance Raid: Windurst: The Third Walk
- Raids: New Ureal and Ultimate
- New Relic Weapon Quest
- Occult Crecent: North Horn
- Beastmaster Limited Job
- New Ocean Fishing Route: Thavnair
- New Cosmic Exploration Star: Auxesia
- Gold Saucer Update (?)
- Housing Update – More furniture and storage slots, both inside and outside!
- Dye System Consolidation
- Armoire Update
- Future: Create Your Own FFXIV Customized Figure (Merch)
Many of these were things we expected, but some came as a surprise. For example, the dye system consolidation – this sounds like a good idea as it will certainly save space overall. But there goes the common dye market if that was something you used to make gil.
I also didn’t expect a new ocean fishing route – this sounds nice, but truthfully, not many people take the Ruby Route as it is. Dividing up the fishing teams even more may not be a great idea. I’ll try to queue up for it during Mog Tomes, I suppose, and see what I get.
Also, an update to the Armoire system where it can now store all relic gear and some dungeon gear. Going forward, you’ll be able to stash more dungeon gear there as they continue to update it. This is nice for gear you want to save but don’t care to use all that much (I’ll probably go back and stock up on relic gear for some characters). The one problem I have with the armoire is that you can’t dye stuff permanently like you can the glamour dresser. I don’t like wasting dyes on a glam plate that might not be permanent.
Of course, the highlight of the Live Letter is the first info we’re getting on Beastmaster.

I had high hopes that this would be a limited job that focused on solo play, and so far, that’s what it seems to be. I noted in my Blue Mage leveling post how I fell off BLU after they started pushing it into BLU-only raids in order to cap the newest skills. What was originally a fun romp in the outside world again got sent to dungeons and raids and forced grouping, which was a real shame.
I can see that Beastmaster has its own little arena area to progress through, which is fine. And I was surprised to hear that it would allow for up to 3 beasts summoned at a time to let you synergize and play tactics on your team. I just hope that it doesn’t follow in the footsteps of BLU when what FFXIV really needs is more reasons for people to be in the overworld zones.
And to touch on housing a bit. Yeah, I’m disappointed we didn’t get the Tardis housing options yet, but I’m very happy to see some slot increases.

This is especially so with small house outdoors items and storage. I’ve struggled for years with the lack of storage for outdoors stuff, having dumped so much of it on my retainers and in the FC chest. This won’t fix everything (we honestly need more slots than this), but it’s a good step forward.
How are you feeling with the first reveal of 7.5 content?
