FFXIV: Final Alt of Dawntrail
Posted on March 30, 2026 by Aywren
Today, I made the final push that brought my last Dawntrail-ready alt all the way through FFXIV patch 7.4. This makes the 6th character I’ve completed this run on, and thankfully, I have no other alts that are anywhere near starting Dawntrail. I’m fairly much mentally done re-running this content.
While my previous run on a Red Mage alt was dull because I’m quite used to the Red Mage side of things, this run was much more challenging because Tai is my only melee DPS main on Reaper. I pretty much only play him when I’m trying to catch him up in a case like this, so my knowledge and practice with melee and Reaper is limited.
I absolutely made my share of mistakes and I’m grateful for my typical Red Mage comfort zone!
I know that once patch 7.5 drops next month that I’ll be faced with the reality of running all 6 of these characters through the content once more. As I always say, though, this is on me for deciding to keep all these characters up to date. Maybe one expansion I’ll just decide to let them fall by the wayside, but Dawntrail is not that expansion.
Once again, it helps that I’m able to craft the highest ilvl gear for all of my alts, which skips the gear grind for them and makes final patch content possible. This gear is still way too expensive for me to want to purchase across so many characters, even at this point in the patch cycle.
And really, that’s all I have to say on this topic. My goal of getting my Dawntrail-ready characters through the expansion is complete! Tomorrow starts the new Mogtomes event, and I have plans on buckling down to work towards not just tome rewards but also an ocean fishing title for Amon.
Aside from even that, I have alts to run through the newest Hatching-tide event. Like the other events this year, this seasonal requires you to do a repeated mini-game. Thankfully, if RNG blesses you, there’s a chance you can get a high enough score to skip out on doing it a few times. However, from what I see, that’s kinda rare.
I also have Fan Fest to look forward to at the end of April. I’m working on making buttons to give out to folks I meet there. But that’s a topic for another blog post, I think!
For now, it’s time to take an MSQ break! I will not be missing the crazy-long DPS queue wait times for the non-Trustable trials.
