FFXIV: Phantom Relic Weapons for Patch 7.55

Posted on August 7, 2026 by Aywren

It’s that time again in FFXIV – Relic Weapon grinds! The newest patch 7.55 brings the final step of the Relic weapon to the game while encouraging a full-on run of everything in Dawntrail all over again.

As someone who has done this content on 6 characters (I have too many alts), I wasn’t pleased at this news. But it is what it is. This is the first Relic, aside from the Manderville weapons, that I’ve actually worked on this far in while it was still relevant, and I don’t intend to stop now.

So, what do we have to do this time?

More Crafted Items

The first step sends us out to either crafters or the marketboard, depending on whether you or your friends can craft what’s required. What you will need is:

  • Monarch Whetstone - purchased from Goplu in Tuliyollal for Gil 500,000 gil
  • Ancestral Alloy Ingot (crafted or marketboard)
  • Ascendant Twine Ascendant (crafted or marketboard)
  • Majestic Polish Majestic Polish (crafted or marketboard)

More Roulettes or Occult Crescent

The instructions for the next step weren’t very clear, I felt. It made it clear that you need to gather 100 of each type of dispeller. And there were 3 types of dispellers.

It did state that you can run stuff in the Occult Crescent to earn these, or run specific roulettes. But it didn’t tell you how many dispellers you’d earn from any of these activities.

Syn and I jumped into roulettes – you must run very specific roulettes – and found the following:

  • High-level Dungeon Roulette – 13 dispellers
  • Trials – 5 dispellers
  • Normal Raids – 5 dispellers

The level of the roulette doesn’t matter – for example, we got 5 dispellers for an Ifrit run and 5 for an Enuo run. No matter how easy or hard, the number is fixed.

The wiki page notes that should you choose to do this in Occult Crescent:

  • FATEs give 3 phantom dispellers of any one type
  • CEs give 10 phantom dispellers of any one type

Different FATEs and CEs drop different types, which you can also reference on this page.

Syn and I just finished the all High-level roulettes we’ll need, and are still working on Trials and Raids. So, we’ve yet to progress past this second step so far. I am, however, holding on fast to 1,500 Math Tomes because I know what’s coming next!

Tomestone Trade…

You know it! 1,500 Tomes for another kind of Arcanite.

Same as the other relics, future weapons on additional jobs will only require you to exchange Tomes for Arcanite.

But, Wait! There’s More!

After you finish that step, there’s one more quest to complete – the Martial Memories. You’ll only need to do this once, and only on the first weapon. Essentially, you get a checklist of things to do around Dawntrail which amounts to: do it all over again.

You heard right. Every dungeon. Every trial. Every normal raid. All alliance raids. Some FATEs and some random monsters out in the open world map.

So, if you skipped any of that over the course of Dawntrail, and you want to finish your glowy weapon, now’s your chance to finish up the content. And if you’ve already finished it… well. Do it again!

I guess it’s not too terrible an ask. And some of the content we’ve had to do for the roulette step has taken us back into fights I haven’t seen in a long time. At least I’ve been able to shake off the rust on my Red Mage if nothing else!

As for the weapons, I really like how some of them look. I’ve always been a fan of the two-toned gradient glows. I’m looking forward to getting this one done, and happy that Tomes can be used to pick up additional weapons on down the line.

And that’s a wrap for the Relic Weapons of Dawntrail!
