A Farewell to Blaugust 2026

It’s the final day of August, a day I’ve traditionally used as a time to look back and quickly tally the number of posts I’ve created over this month. I do this self-report so that it hopefully helps those who are counting posts check me off real quick-like!
This Blaugust, I’ve posted a full 31 blog posts, which you can see here on my August category page.
This wasn’t an easy month to keep up with. I had a lot going on, as I noted in my IRL post, and I’ve been finding it harder to blog about gaming in general, which I talked about here. I also wrote about the difference in engagement I’ve been seeing between YouTube videos and blog posts, which I’m sure doesn’t help a lot in the motivational sense.
But you know what? On the flip side, I’m happy that I was able to get some of these thoughts into words on the screen, no matter how tough it has been to put butt-in-chair and get this done. As always, I am grateful for the opportunity that an exercise like Blaugust gives me by nudging me to really dig down and find things to write about.
I usually discover I have things I want to say, but without something giving me that extra push – like a post quota to meet – I tend to leave those things to languish and linger.
I also find that I use Blaugust to do some catch-up blogging that I keep meaning to do throughout the year. This includes gaming posts on topics like Vampire Survivors, Balatro, and Windrose. All too often lately, I simply don’t blog about the games I play, and then by the time I regret I haven’t written anything, I’ve forgotten my impressions and thoughts about the game.
I still have a small list of games I want to get around to blogging about including:
- Teddy’s Haven
- Paralives
- Spirit City’s New DLC
- Medieval Horse Dealer Simulator
And maybe other titles.
I also want to keep up with announcing my FFXIV video releases a bit better than I have on my blog. Yes, I did write some short and “cheap” posts this Blaugust by highlighting the FFXIV videos I posted months back. However, I did spend a chunk of time on making those videos, so I feel it was kinda fair to be able to fill in the blanks during Blaugust with a few of those posts.
While I know that I’ll take a bit of a break from blogging as I normally do in September, I’d like to keep some of the momentum going, specifically on the game topics I haven’t written about yet. Teddy’s Haven, in particular, is a game I haven’t revisited in months, but enjoyed immensely – I’ve wanted to write about it for a long time, so I hope I can swoop back and do so even though Blaugust is at an end.
For all of those who are crossing the finish line along with me – no matter your ultimate post count – I congratulate you on being a part of Blaugust this year!
