BDO: Third Time’s the Dream Horse

Posted on July 4, 2023 by Aywren

The time has come – I have finally obtained the Arduanatt (Pegasus) dream horse in Black Desert Online!

Those who know me know that my journey for this dream horse has spanned nearly as long as BDO has been in the NA. I’ve earned two dream horses before this, but both of them were unicorns, and I have always had my heart set on the Pegasus.

I super lucked out and managed to get my first dream horse on the very first try which was… insane. I think I used up all my luck on that one!

I earned my second dream horse with a good deal more time and effort, finally awakening her in April of 2022. She’s quite dear to me because she was a horse that I can trace back to the two very first horses I captured from the wild many years ago.

I believe this current horse was a courser I trained up from a free Tier 8 horse they gave out when the Corsairs were first released (or thereabout). I’ve been logging in every day since April of 2022 to get loyalty points, which I then use to buy the courser training items such as shells, fruit, and flowers.

I also picked up every courser training box I could get my hands on. You can buy one with loyalty points every month. You also get one from login rewards every month. Then, sometimes the special chests you get for login rewards also give one.

Basically, I’ve been at this for over a year. It took 40 tries to finally awaken her. And when I did…

This time, she was the dream horse I’ve been working for!

Ironically, this happened only two days before Black Desert is going to give everyone a free Dream Horse. That’s right, on the 5th of July, you can put two free login items together in your inventory for an object that apparently gives you your choice of dream horse (and gender).

I was (and still am) very happy to know this is going to be a thing. I was looking forward to Wednesday knowing that whether or not I awakened this courser, I would have a Pegasus. And now, I will have two!

What’s Next?

I haven’t researched the whole next level of dream horse – where you breed two Pegasus together – since I struggled to get one, much less two. I will be choosing a male Pegasus this week and will then have a pair.

Will I work very hard at this next step of dream horse? I don’t know. Probably not.

I’ve been logging in daily for years just to get the materials to try to awaken coursers, and it would be nice to have a break. I am training this new dream horse – I changed her name to Sojourner’s Dream – because I have two Train All Skills tickets waiting in my inventory once I unlock all her skills. It seems a shame to have worked to awaken her all this time and not train her once I succeeded. So that’s a thing.

After that? I don’t know.

I play BDO for the horses and not much else, to be honest. I’m still not a fan of the PVP elements of the game, and while I do enjoy the life skilling, everything takes so long to level.

I still have lots of horses to train and breed in my stables, but I don’t feel like I want to push to raise another courser even though I know how and could probably do it. They’re just far too expensive and frustrating to train in the long run. Especially now that everyone will already have chosen their own dream horse.

Will I breed and sell T8s for the fun of it? I don’t know. When I first started breeding horses in BDO, it was mostly for that reason - fun. However, the whole AFKing the game to run horses up and down the roads while I want to be playing other games turns me off from the idea.

So, yeah. I’m not saying I’m giving up on BDO now that I’ve achieved my dream horse. I know there’s content still for me to do that I’ve never touched. I’m just not sure where I’m going with this game in the long run.

And you know what? This is the summer of don’t care. So that’s just fine!
