OSRS: A Return to Old School RuneScape

Posted on August 22
I wrote last week how I’d made the leap to membership and returned to playing OSRS. The goal with this was to force myself to slow down a bit and try to savor my gaming experience more. Overall, I’ve had a good time popping in and out of OSRS to pick away at small goals and quests.

Enshrouded: Water Comes to the Shroud!

Posted on August 21
Water is finally coming to Enshrouded this fall! It’s the biome we’ve all been waiting for, and so far, based on the trailer video for Update 7, it looks just as good as expected!

Fake Portal – Supporting Indie Game Developers

Posted on August 20
I know that this past year, I’ve talked a lot about buying digital media, my overall dislike of the direction gaming companies are going, and a discontent with supporting large subscription methods (especially those that stack ads on top of your sub). There’s no doubt that I have a love of small indie games and indie developers, which have created some of my favorite games.

Steam Gaming: Collecting Cats with Chonkers

Posted on August 19
Chonkers is an idle collection game where the goal is to collect and provide for adorable pixel cats while making pixel money to buy more pixel cats. It’s similar to Chillquarium, which was is another idle collector that I’ve put a lot of time and enjoyment into. Except, it’s cats and not fish.

Cornerpond gets its name from the fact that it’s a tiny fishing game that sits at in the bottom corner of your monitor screen. I’ve seen a number of games that use this mechanic lately, and I’m a fan of these idle tiny screen games in general.

FFXIV: They Gave Us a Cruise Ship for Moonfire Faire 2025

Posted on August 17
In FFXIV, it’s the summer season, and that means the Moonfire Faire has come back around. This has been an event that’s traditionally one used as a summer hangout once the quest and rewards have been earned. It’s also traditionally a host to a challenging jump puzzle with no reward but bragging rights at the top – and yet, it’s always a main attraction for folks.

We are officially at the halfway point for Blaugust 2025! How has your blogging been going for you?

OSRS: I Pulled the Trigger Again

Posted on August 15
I’ve been in this weird state of mind when it comes to gaming lately, and that has led me to searching for fulfilling gaming experiences in odd places. While I have enjoyed some parts of my FFXIV journey lately, other parts (namely the newest content) have literally frustrated me to tears. I find it odd that I seek solace in content from two expansions back to find the chill experience I’m really looking for. And I know that will only last for as long as I’m in that content, which I’m speeding through.

Playing Enshrouded – It’s Worth Getting Into!

Posted on August 14
Enshrouded is an adventure survival game that we started playing near the game’s initial release to Early Access last year. I wrote about my first impression of the game here, and since then, it’s been one of our go-to games when we’re in the mood for fantasy questing. It’s become my third-most played game on Steam at 249 hours, following only 7 Days 2 Die and No Man’s Sky.

Consider this post a draft over a year in the making as it was about that long ago when I earned my Angler’s Outfit in Old School RuneScape. I’m not sure why I never wrote this post (bad blogger!) because I was absolutely stoked at the time of achievement.

FFXIV: Girls’ Night Out (AKA. Fun with the Bun)

Posted on August 12
One important update that FFXIV Patch 7.3 brought was the ability for Viera and Hrothgar to wear a fairly wide variety of hats. For those who have been playing Buns for quite a while, this was something years in the waiting.

2025 Simplicity: Update on Service Subscriptions

Posted on August 11
Back in 2024, I wrote about cutting costs by choosing which service subscriptions I would keep an let go. I did away with a number of them in hopes that my Amazon Prime account (which I mostly use for shipping) would be able to fill the gaps. Turns out it couldn’t completely.

FFXIV: No-Spoiler Patch 7.3 Impressions

Posted on August 10
I finished up most of the content in the newest FFXIV Dawntrail patch over this past week. I wanted to talk a little bit about what I thought about all of it – no MSQ spoilers, just overall impressions here.

Quick Health Update (Positive Progress!)

Posted on August 9
This has been a rocky year for me in terms of health issues, which has never been the case before. Folks have asked me to update when I can, and since this is a move towards the positive, I’m happy to do so today!

This year, long-time yearly writing challenge, NaNoWriMo, shut down. I know that NaNoWriMo was facing financial troubles based on some of their choices, including the decision to turn a blind eye to the use of AI in writing (which I feel defeats the purpose of the challenge), but I still can’t help but feel a bit sad about the loss.

Quest 3s - My List of Must-Have VR Headset Accessories

Posted on August 7
Last month, I was gifted a Meta Quest 3s virtual reality headset. This is my first personal interaction with VR for any extended period of time, and I continue to really enjoy it. However, while it was a cool headset out of the box, I quickly discovered there were some additional accessories that I needed to pick up so that the headset worked best for me.

Sims 5 is Not Happening and I’m Okay with That

Posted on August 6
Back in 2023, we learned about the upcoming Sims game, which is still titled Project Rene. Most of us just assumed it was going to be the next in the numbered Sims series, most obviously, Sims 5.

I'm Sad and Disappointed with Nintendo Lately – Switch 1 Prices Just Went Up

Posted on August 5
As a gamer who has been a Nintendo fan since I first discovered the NES in my childhood years, I’m struggling with the fact that I’ve been nothing but disappointed in the calls the company has been making lately. I try not to fill my blog with posts about drama, but it gets harder and harder to be positive when your favorite childhood attachments are slowly getting flushed down the toilet by the very company that once delighted you.

Warning: Bluesky Account Scammer

Posted on August 4
This past weekend, I had a brush with a scammer on Bluesky who had compromised a mutual’s account. I’m writing the details up here as a cautionary tale. The scammer did not get what they wanted out of me (my Bsky account), but that’s only because I’ve been hacked in the past and I’m super suspicious of everything.

FFXIV: Patch 7.3 Release Notes Highlights

Posted on August 3
It’s been a while since I’ve gone over highlights for a FFXIV patch from the preliminary patch notes. But since this is Blaugust and I need to be posting something anyhow, I decided to dive into the FFXIV 7.3 patch notes this time around.

I will be honest – I didn’t know there was an annual day that celebrated HTML until this year. I noticed the link to the official celebration website on the header of Neocities, and had to click it out of curiosity. That led me to a list of IRL and online meet-ups that are all dedicated to celebrating HTML.

Hello and welcome all to Blaugust, Festival of Blogging, the 2025 edition! I have chosen to take part in the fun again this year, and will see how far my muse happens to carry me.
